Mpeg II layer 3 is an audio compression method that allows high quality audio to be passed along on the internet relatively easily. You can trade various songs with your friends via the web or download whatever you like from ftp and http sites.
I have been around the mp3 world since quite a while ago and have seen it at its full potential. Recenly however mp3s have been regarded as illegal due to the distribution of full length songs without the author's concent.
This is true of course, it is simply a shame that mp3s were chosen out of other flourishing canidates such as real audio and liquid audio both of which provide results simmilar to mp3 if they are used with high bit rate. Mp3's were chosen because there is no corporation backing up the format like there is with the two examples above. This site is completely legal, it provides 30 second sound clips, not hurting the music industry.
I remmember when mp3site.com was the only mp3 related website with a domain name, and smiley faces were put next to the 24 hour copright period. I hope that my experience will produce a semi-decent site.
Some of you remmember the once great outer limits for which I hosted a direct download mp3 archive of mp3direct.ml.org . Others may remmember the mp3 asylum (no longer existent) for which I also hosted the top mp3 song list. Still others may be faith remmember mp3 direct a site run by me, however only about 100,000 of you ever visited. Yosh power search was also on my server, before the author saw the legallity dangers.
Here we go again. Take two this time I've got a domain, more experience and the will power, I hope :) Enjoy mp3.us.am, and remmember guys, this is music we're talking about. Could have thought most of the current mp3 sites are running a drug cartell.
